Fun Stuff

For this post i feel like doing something knew so i will give you some intresting facts about the movies i have already given reviews for.
VideoDrome
-The TV station "Civic TV" is patterned after City TV, an actual television station which started out in Toronto and was particularly infamous for showing soft-core sex films as part of its late night programming schedule. At one point in the film, one of Max Renn's partners is called "Moses" which is a reference to City TV founder Moses Znaimer.
-David Tsubochi, who appears here briefly as a Japanese porn dealer, later became a Minister in the Ontario provincial government. His appearance in this controversial film as a pornographer was exploited by the opposition.
-The original title was going to be "Network of Blood"

Planet Terror
-The original title was going to be "Project Terror"
-Rose McGowan(Cherry Darling) is germaphobic, and had to have the stripper pole sanitized before doing her go-go dance routine.
-Felix Sabates(DR.Felix in the movie, ya i know very creative) who plays Dr. Felix, is in fact a real doctor and is actually Robert Rodrigues's personal physician
-Skip Reissig the man who plays the strip club owner is actually Robert Rodrigues's real estate agent.
-The appearance of Bruce Willis in a minor role is a subtle nod to an old marketing trick often employed by Grindhouse makers. They would contract a big-name movie star to appear in their movie for one day, for a few frontal shots only, while the rest of the scenes were done with a double filmed from the back. A picture of the big star would then be placed prominently on the movie's poster in order to boost sales. (Example: Bruce Willis character of Lt. Muldoon is never in the same frame with the other lead and supporting actors indicating that all of his scenes were filmed separately.)
-The main character's name is El Wray. In Robert Rodrigues's earlier movie, From Dusk Till Dawn, Seth Gecko is trying to get to a place called El Ray.
-When Tammy is changing her car radio station, the DJ is heard to dedicate the upcoming song to the "departed Jungle Julia."
-In the scene in the hospital when Dakota is called on by her husband Dr. Bill Block to bring the needles there is a brief shot of her notepad which reads: "To do / Cereal for Tony / Crickets for Tony's pets / Kill Bill" - the latter of course a reference to Quentin Tarantino's movie Kill Bill.

Altered States
-In his autobiography, director Ken Russel said he tried mushrooms during the making of the film, which resulted in a bad trip.
-The book was partially based on dolphin researcher John Lilly, who invented the isolation tank, and first started taking drugs while "tanking".
-In a 1981 interview with the New York Times, Blair Brown said many of the actors and crew tried out the isolation tank. William Hurt actually hallucinated, while Blair Brown found it very peaceful.

Dead Alive
-During the lawnmower scene, movie blood was pumped at five gallons per second.
-300 liters of fake blood was used in the final scene of the film.
-The Spanish title of the film literally translates to "Your mother ate my dog", a line said by Paquita in the film, who happens to be played by a Spanish actress.

The Thing
-The film was originally banned when released in Finland
-The original movie, The Thing from Another World(1951), took place at the North Pole. This version takes place at the South Pole.
-In the close up shot of the United States National Science Institute Station 4 sign, a 'Smokey the Bear' sign can be seen.

HellRaiser
-Doug Bradley's character's name wasn't "Pinhead"; this was a fan nickname that began circulating after the release of the film. The script originally identified his character as 'The First Cenobite'. In the sequel films, 'Pinhead' became the character's "official" name, and Bradley is credited as "Pinhead" after that point.
-The film's working title was "Sadomasochists From Beyond The Grave".
-The address for the house in this movie is 55 Ludovico Place. The name of the institute in A ClockWork orange (1971) where Alex is deprogrammed of violence was the Ludovico Institute.
-For the video release, the film had one of the most unusual pieces of bonus material that has ever been offered: a Home Shopping Network show where merchandise from the movie could be purchased. The show was hosted by a giddy old lady claiming to be a hardcore fan of the movie.
-Doug Bradley was originally offered a choice of roles between one of the mattress movers and the Lead Cenobite. He originally thought it important that, as a new film actor, the audience should be see his face, and nearly turned down the Lead Cenobite role.
